Pennsylvanians will soon have another online casino option where to play table games and slots.
After almost two years of negotiation, Golden Nugget received the online casino license to operate in Pennsylvania. It’s the second operator to launch as a qualified gaming entity (GQE) this year, following Bally’s approval in June.
What is a GQE license?
These type of licenses allow operators to work without a partnership as long as they are outside of Pennsylvania. They don’t need to have any ties with a land-based casino holding a license.
The certificate has three categories at a cost of $4 million each:
- Online slots license
- Table games license
- “Non-banking” table games license (i.e., poker)
The license doesn’t expand to sports betting unless the operator works with a partner.
What to expect from Golden Nugget in PA
Golden Nugget is a strong contestant in the casino industry. Their slots catalog is one of the biggest out there with over 1000 titles. They also offer a good collection of live dealer options like blackjack, roulette, and baccarat.
Since their launch in New Jersey in 2021, Golden Nugget has generated $1.7 billion in lifetime revenue. In Michigan, $157 million since 2021. And although this figure might not look as impressive, it’s a good reference for Pennsylvania’s future performance.
